Knowledge

Happy Preparation Day for the weekly Shabbat!!!!  May it be filled with the presence of our King as we prepare to enter into Shabbat and worship of Him!!

Today we will read Psalm 92.  This is the only Psalm that is designated for the Sabbath. It begins and ends with honor and praise to YHVH Most High. It then addresses the senseless one who has no knowledge or understanding and what will be their demise.  Moving forward, it speaks of YHVH as the victor over His enemies, which for the believer, He is our victor too.  Then it covers the choosing of the righteous as well as the fruit of the righteous, even in old age.

I find it very interesting that the subjects covered in this Psalm are designated to be read or sung on the Sabbath. The Sabbath, as well as Sukkot (The Feast of Tabernacles), is a prophetic portent of the millennial reign with Messiah. When we gather on Shabbat and ingather at Sukkot as commanded, we are rehearsing weekly and annually the day that we will ultimately be gathered and concealed until the final judgment when we will finally enter the eternal day.  As we read this Psalm, remember that the Word is applicable for every generation.  It was and is and is to come!!  With that lens let’s read through Psalm 92.

Psalm 92:1-15 ~ A Psalm, a Song for the Sabbath day.

1 It is good to give thanks to YHVH and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
2 To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning and Your faithfulness by night,
3  With the ten-stringed lute and with the harp, with resounding music upon the lyre.
4 For You, O YHVH, have made me glad by what You have done, I will sing for joy at the works of Your hands.
5 How great are Your works, O YHVH! Your  thoughts are very deep.
A senseless man has no knowledge, nor does a stupid man understand this:
7 That when the wicked sprouted up like grass and all who did iniquity flourished, it was only that they might be destroyed forevermore.
[A wise man will know this and will avoid foolish behavior that leads to destruction.]
8 But You, O YHVH, are on high forever.
9 For, behold, Your enemies, O YHVH, for, behold, Your enemies will perish; all who do iniquity will be scattered
[The righteous are gathered and the wicked scattered.]
10 But You have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil.
11 And my eye has looked exultantly upon my foes, my ears hear of the evildoers who rise up against me.
12 The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree, he will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13  Planted in the house of YHVH, they will flourish in the courts of our Elohim.
14 They will still  yield fruit in old agethey shall be full of sap and very green
[Still capable and producing fruit]
15 To declare that YHVH is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him
[The righteous man is flourishing even in old age to make His praises known…not for selfish purposes.]

May we allow the Spirit of Knowledge to impart this Sabbath Psalm deep into our hearts so that we will be encouraged to trust and obey and thereby declare His way!!!

Have a blessed and shalom filled preparation day!!!
