Wisdom

We are continuing in the “Thirty Sayings of the Wise” from the book of Proverbs.  Just a reminder that though the word wisdom may not be used, when it is from the Word it is our wisdom.

Saying number 24 is from Proverbs 24:8-9.  It says, “8 One who plans to do evil, men will call a schemer. 9 The devising of folly is sin, and the scoffer is an abomination to men.”

Currently in our culture we are hearing of many pastors, worship leaders and congregants who are leaving the faith.  We know this is prophesied in the Scriptures that there would be a great falling away while there is also a great gathering in.  Why is this happening?  We cannot teach a lawless love of Elohim, we cannot teach that we are free from the law, rather than the penalty of the law, for those who are in Messiah, we cannot call evil good and good evil and think that we will remain a healthy community of believers. Romans 1:28-32 says, 28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge Elohim any longerElohim gave them over to a depraved mindto do those things which are not proper, 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers,  haters of Elohim, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of Elohim, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.”

Proverbs 14:22 says, “Will they not go astray who devise evil? But kindness and truth will be to those who devise good.” The Word of Yah defines what is good and right…not just the back third of it, but ALL of it.

Here is an experience that Peter and John had in Acts 8:14-24 which says, “14 Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of Elohim, they sent them Peter and John, 15  who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16  For He had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Master Yeshua. 17  Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit. 18  Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was bestowed through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money, 19  saying, “Give this authority to me as well, so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” 20  But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of Elohim with money! 21  You have no part or portion in this matter, for your heart is not right before Elohim. [Peter is calling Simon the sorcerer out for wanting to profit personally from the gift of YHVH.] 22  Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray Adonai that, if possible, the intention of your heart may be forgiven you. 23  For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity.” [How many of us would have discerned that Simon’s greed was connected to a gall of bitterness?  Iniquity, yes, but Peter accurately perceived that bitterness was one of the things that was at the root of his intentions.] 24  But Simon answered and said, “Pray to Adonai for me yourselves, so that nothing of what you have said may come upon me.”

The Spirit of Wisdom will lead us into what is goodright and true; but it will also guide us, when needed, to accurately discern and check our own motives and intentions, as well as reveal to us those who try to pull us into their wrongs. The Spirit of Wisdom can operate in our lives when we’re putting the Word into our hearts and praying for it; then like Peter and John, we will know what to do and how to handle it.

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
