I remember well that morning on August 29, 2005, as the monster hurricane named Katrina came barreling toward us on the Gulf Coast. It made land fall near New Orleans and packed high winds that caused much devastation from Louisiana to Mississippi. It’s recorded that over 1300 people lost their lives as a result of this storm. That day I was reading my Bible and praying, I asked the Father to guide me through His Word in light of what was going on with this storm. I was immediately led to Psalm 29, which I found noteworthy since it was August 29th. As I read it, I sat in utter silence at the significance and timing of this Psalm. It showed us perfectly the current circumstance we were in. As we read today, may we do as Yeshua instructed in Matthew 6:9-15 when His disciples asked Him how they ought to pray and He said, “Our Father who is in heaven hallowed (to set apart and make holy) is Your name.” We must always remember to Praise Him through the Storm!!
Psalm 29:1-11 says,
1 Ascribe to YHVH, O sons of the mighty, ascribe to YHVH glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to YHVH the glory due to His name; worship YHVH in holy array.
3 The voice of YHVH is upon the waters; the Elohim of glory thunders, YHVH is over many waters.
4 The voice of YHVH is powerful, the voice of YHVH is majestic.
5 The voice of YHVH breaks the cedars; yes, YHVH breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of YHVH hews out flames of fire.
8 The voice of YHVH shakes the wilderness; YHVH shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of YHVH makes the deer to calve and strips the forests bare; and in His temple everything says, “Glory!”
10 YHVH sat as King at the flood; yes, YHVH sits as King forever.
11 YHVH will give strength to His people; YHVH will bless His people with peace.
There is no storm in our lives that is stronger than the strength of our Creator!! He gives to His people the Spirit of Power to overcome any situation that He allows us to go through. May we lift His name on high and receive the promises contained in these words.
