Spirit of YHVH

At the beginning of Acts 11 Peter goes up to Jerusalem to convince the Jews that the Spirit has been opened up to the Gentiles.  In fact, many are coming to faith in Yeshua and being filled with the Holy Spirit.  But much persecution arose because of this.  Today we will pick up at this point in Acts 11.

Acts 11:19-30

19 So then those who were scattered because of the persecution that occurred in connection with Stephen made their way to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews alone.

20 But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks also, preaching the Master Yeshua.

21 And the hand of Adonai was with them, and a large number who believed turned to the Master.

22 The news about them reached the ears of the congregation at Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas off to Antioch.

23 Then when he arrived and witnessed the grace of Elohim, he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with resolute heart to remain true to the Master;

24 for he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And considerable numbers were brought to the Master.

25 And he left for Tarsus to look for Saul;

26 and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And for an entire year they met with the congregation and taught considerable numbers; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

27 Now at this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.

28 One of them named Agabus stood up and began to indicate by the Spirit that there would certainly be a great famine all over the world. And this took place in the reign of Claudius.

29 And in the proportion that any of the disciples had means, each of them determined to send a contribution for the relief of the brethren living in Judea. [Warning came from one of the prophets in town, by the Holy Spirit, and they wisely made preparations.]

30 And this they did, sending it in charge of Barnabas and Saul to the elders.

Once again we see in the Scriptures how the Spirit of Elohim directs and protects our lives.  People full of the Holy Spirit will always encourage us to remain true to Yeshua and His way of life.  He is the living Torah and the Scripture (the teachings and instructions) is the written Torah.  May we remember the following: As it was then, so shall it be now, that the prophets will rise up with instruction for what is coming on the scene and we will know how to prepare.  The Holy Spirit will never leave us in the dark.  May he who has ears to hear, hear what the Spirit is saying.

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
