Happy Preparation Day for the weekly Shabbat!!!!  May it be filled with the presence of our King as we prepare to enter into Shabbat and worship Him!!

Hannah, the wife of Elkanah, had no children, but her rival, had many children and would provoke her bitterly to irritate her, because YHVH had closed her womb. Year after year, as often as she went up to the house of YHVH, she would provoke her; so Hannah wept and would not eat. (1 Samuel 1:6-7)  Verses 10-11 go on to say that Hannah became greatly distressed, prayed to YHVH and wept bitterly.  She made a vow and said, “10 She, greatly distressed, prayed to YHVH and wept bitterly. 11 O YHVH of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a son, then I will give him to YHVH all the days of his life, and a razor shall never come on his head.”

What followed this vow was worship (verse 19). Hannah then conceived and followed through with her vow by taking Samuel to serve at the house of YHVH.  Below is the prayer of thanksgivingthat Hannah wrote praising the Giver of the Gift and not for the gift itself. You will see within this prayer that Hannah knows who is all knowing and who is the judge of it all.  Understandingwho is really in control will keep her focus from receiving the judgments and taunts of her rival and yield her life to the One who gives her life…YHVH!!

1 Samuel 2:1-10 says, “

1    Then Hannah prayed and said, “My heart exults in YHVH; my horn is exalted in YHVH, my mouth speaks boldly against my enemies, because I rejoice in Your salvation [Hebrew word is Yeshua].

2   “There is no one holy like YHVH, indeed, there is no one besides You, nor is there any rock like our Elohim.

3   “Boast no more so very proudly, do not let arrogance come out of your mouth; for YHVH is a Elohim of knowledge, and with Him actions are weighed.

4   “The bows of the mighty are shattered, but the feeble gird on strength.

5   “Those who were full hire themselves out for bread, but those who were hungry cease to hunger. Even the barren gives birth to seven, but she who has many children languishes.

6   “YHVH kills and makes alive; He brings down to Sheol and raises up.

7   “YHVH makes poor and rich; He brings low, He also exalts.

8   “He raises the poor from the dust, He lifts the needy from the ash heap to make them sit with nobles, and inherit a seat of honor; for the pillars of the earth are YHVH’s, and He set the world on them.

9   “He keeps the feet of His godly ones, but the wicked ones are silenced in darkness; for not by might shall a man prevail.

10 “Those who contend with YHVH will be shattered; against them He will thunder in the heavens, YHVH will judge the ends of the earth; and He will give strength to His king, and will exalt the horn of His anointed.””

We’ve read this verse before in context with the Fear of YHVH, but today we will look at it in light of Yah’s knowledge; 1 Kings 8:39-40 says, “39  then hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive and act and render to each according to all his ways, whose heart You know, for You alone know the hearts of all the sons of men, 40  that they may fear You all the days that they live in the land which You have given to our fathers.”

Our Creator knows and is in control of all things and will answer according to His will.  May we be filled with the Spirit of Knowledge so that we will remember the source of our very life and be careful to always give Him praise from a grateful heart!!

Have a blessed and shalom filled preparation day!!!
