Fear of YHVH

Shabbat Shalom!! We look forward to gathering for worship!!

Today we will continue looking at what the rewards, requirements and promises are for those who Fear YHVH.

Following the seventy years of captivity to Babylon, Haggai receives several messages from YHVH for the remnant that decided to return to the land after their time was up.  Unfortunately, for the majority of Israel, they became comfortable in captivity and made the land of their captors their home and didn’t want to leave.  With joy the remnant began the monumental task of rebuilding the Temple, but then they quickly lost their vision and desire and it was completely ignored for about sixteen years. After this amount of time the messages from Yah were given to the prophet Haggai.  In verses 1-11 of chapter 1, Haggai, as given from YHVH, rebukes and then instructs the remnant what they are doing and how it needs to change.  Below we will read the response of the remnant to the words given through the man of Elohim.

Haggai 1:12-15 says,

“12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the peopleobeyed the voice of YHVH their Elohim AND the words of Haggai the prophet, as YHVH their Elohim had sent him. And the people showed reverence for YHVH[Fear of YHVH13 Then Haggai, the messenger of YHVHspoke by the commission of YHVH to the people saying, “ ‘I am with you,’ declares YHVH.” 14 So YHVH stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of YHVH of hosts, their Elohim, 15 on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month in the second year of Darius the king.”

YHVH speaks through the prophet Isaiah the following in 1:19-20 which says, “19 “If you consent and obey, you will eat the best of the land; 20 “But if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.” Truly, the mouth of YHVH has spoken.

We see another pattern of YHVH speaking through His servants to His people in 1 Thessalonians 2:13 which says, “For this reason we also constantly thank Elohim that when you received the word of Elohim which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of Elohim, which also performs its work in you who believe.”

When we have the Biblical understanding that “ME must become WE”, we set ourselves up to recognize and receive the voice within the voice that the Spirit is speaking through His vessels.  As we see in Haggai 1:12, it was considered Reverence or Fear of YHVH when they received the words of His prophet Haggai.  The Father will often use His people in our lives to direct us to His Word to encourage us in our walk.  When we have open hearts and ears to receive and respond we have then shown a proper Fear of YHVH.

May we have a joyful Shabbat!!
