Understanding

Today we will continue with verses that speak about the fool and what is considered foolishness and what is considered wise and understanding.

Proverbs 14:7-9 says; “7 Leave the presence of a fool, or you will not discern words of knowledge. 8 The wisdom of the sensible is to understand his way, but the foolishness of fools is deceit. 9 Fools mock at sin, but among the upright there is good will.” Foolish men and women make light of sin rather than grieve over it. We must be cautious that we do not try to justify ourselves when we have messed up.  This is where we deceive ourselves.  But if we humble ourselves and repent, then we have walked in understanding of what is foolish and what is wise and we will be pushed forward.  At the end of verse nine it say “among the upright there is good will”. The phrase good will means that there is favor and pleasure. This is what awaits the upright.

1 Corinthians 3:18-20 says, “18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before Elohim. For it is written, “He is THE ONE WHO CATCHES THE WISE IN THEIR CRAFTINESS”; 20 and again, “YHVH KNOWS THE REASONINGS of the wise, THAT THEY ARE USELESS.” It’s important that we understand that the wisdom of Elohim seen in believers of Yeshua and His way of life are seen as foolishness in the eyes of the world.  The converse is true of the believers.  Paul is saying that the wisdom of the world is really foolishness; so we must guard to not fall into the trap of following their ways and dictates.

Romans 1:20 says, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” Here is a verse that tells us that we can clearly see and understand His invisible attributes, His eternal power and His divine nature through what has been made or created on earth.  If we want to understand the unseen truths, then let’s ask for the Spirit of Understanding to fill us so that as we look around at what He’s made we will see the function and the message of our great Creators.

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
