Understanding

Deuteronomy 8:1-3 says; “1 All the commandments that I am commanding you today you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land which YHVH swore to give to your forefathers. 2  You shall remember all the way which YHVH your Elohim has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble youtesting youto know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. 3 He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of YHVH.” What proceeded out of the mouth of YHVH?  Words to life…the Torah…His teachings and instructions.  Bread in the natural sustains the physical body, the Word of Yah is the bread that eternally sustains us.  Once again we see that what is in the natural shows us the truth of the spiritual. It is our very LIFE if we will do everything that YHVH has told us in His Word.  None of it has changed or ceased.  In fact, Yeshua said He came to fulfill it and this word fulfill does not mean, “end it”.  It means He establishes it.  He confirms it and shows us that it can be lived out.

Deuteronomy 30:20 says, “by loving YHVH your Elohim, by obeying His voice [Doing the words He spoke on Sinai…again, the Torah], and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which YHVH swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”

Deuteronomy 32:46-47 says, “46 he said to them, “Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you shall command your sons to observe carefullyeven all the words of this law. 47 For it is not an idle word for youindeed it is your life. And by this word you will prolong your days in the land, which you are about to cross the Jordan to possess.”

Deuteronomy 4:1-2 says, “1 Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I am teaching you to perform, so that you may live and go in and take possession of the land which YHVH, the Elohim of your fathers, is giving you. 2 You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of YHVH your Elohim which I command you.”

Yeshua quotes part of Deuteronomy 8:3 in Matthew 4:4, “But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of Elohim.’”

Bread and food many times in the Word are used as metaphors concerning the Scriptures.  We cannot live without either one.  We need both while on this earth.  However, if we eat only natural bread and don’t eat the Spiritual bread through obedience to it, we will not truly live.  May our understanding from the Word today be enlightened, so that we eat the scroll in order to have life and life eternal.

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
