Mexican artist José Salomé Pina captures Delilah’s betrayal in his painting from 1851. “After putting him to sleep on her lap, she called for someone to shave off the seven braids of his hair, and so began to subdue him,” reads Judges 16:19.

Power

The fifth Spirit listed in Isaiah 11:1-2 is the Spirit of Power.  It’s the Hebrew word G’vurah, Strong’s Number 1369.  Its meaning is forcevalor, victory, might, power, strength…It’s from the root word Gibor, Strong’s number 1368.  Its meaning is really the same.

The first use of this Hebrew word in Scripture is interesting because it’s actually when Moses and Joshua are coming down the mountain with the Commandments of Elohim and they heard this noise not knowing yet that the children of Israel had formed a golden calf and were worshipping YHVH around it.  In Exodus 32:17-18 it says, “17 Now when Joshua heard the sound of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is a sound of war in the camp.” 18 But he [Moses] said, “It is not the sound of the cry of triumph [G’vurah/Power], nor is it the sound of the cry of defeat; But the sound of singing I hear.” Moses knew it wasn’t the sound of power or triumph because the sound of pure and true triumph or power has a distinction to it that will not be mixed with false worship.

The Spirit of Power or Strength must be received and used in humility, with great care, so that it does not get misused such as Sampson did.  YHVH endows us with the Spirit of Power in order that His kingdom be established…not for our selfish gain.  Job, in responding to his accusers said in Job 12:13; “With Him are wisdom and might [power]; to Him belong counsel and understanding.” Look how many Spirits of YHVH Job uses in this one verse!!! Job is deferring to the truths found in YHVH and not within his own strength and power. We, too, have the ability when being tempted of the flesh or tested, to yield to the only One who can enable us to have the victory in every situation.

Yeshua said in Acts 1:8, “but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

These verses below have powerful promises for the believer!

Ephesians 1:13-21 says, “13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit [from yesterday’s deLIGHT: Spirit of YHVH] of promise, 14 who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of Elohim’s own possession, to the praise of His glory. 15 For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Master Yeshua which exists among you and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers; 17 that the Elohim of our Master Yeshua Messiah, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power [Today’s deLIGHT] toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might [Today’s deLIGHT] 20 which He brought about in Messiah, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

Where do we get this distinct strength and power?  It is found in full faith and surrender to the truth of Yeshua as the Messiah AND His way of life [Torah] through the infilling of the Holy Spirit.  That was the power of the first century Congregation!!  They walked in all of this and saw many miracles, salvations and deliverances.  This is what is being restored in Yah’s people today!!  May we never abuse but only use that which is entrusted to us!!

Have a blessed and shalom filled day filled!!
