Wisdom

We often hear a wise saying that proves day after day to be so true, “It’s more caught than taught.”  We teach with our lives more than our words.  What is our life speaking to others? In the verses below Paul packs in much wisdom for the body of Messiah.  As we read this let’s keep in mind that he’s speaking this wisdom to a congregation or a community of believers who walk it together.

Colossians 3:12-17 says, “12 So, as those who have been chosen of Elohim, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Master forgave you, so also should you. 14 Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. 15 Let the peace of Messiah rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Messiah richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to Elohim. 17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Master Yeshua, giving thanks through Him to Elohim the Father.”

Colossians 1:28-29, “28 We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Messiah. 29 For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.”

Let’s list out the wisdom Paul shares in the verses above:

  1. Put on a heart of compassion
  2. Put on a heart of kindness
  3. Put on a heart of humility
  4. Put on a heart of gentleness
  5. Put on a heart of patience
  6. Bearing with one another (put up with or endure)
  7. Forgiving each other…remembering the Messiah forgives us
  8. Put on LOVE which IS the perfect bond of unity
  9. Let the peace of Messiah rule IN our hearts (remember to make peace with all men whenever possible (Romans 12:18)
  10. We are called to be ONE body
  11. Be Thankful
  12. Let the WORD richly dwell WITHIN us with ALL WISDOM teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs
  13. Sing with thankfulness in our hearts to Elohim
  14. Do EVERYTHING in the name or representation of Yeshua
  15. Giving thanks to Yeshua through YHVH our Father
  16. Teach every man with ALL WISDOM (Not only through our words but through our actions/choices)
  17. Wisely teaching others through our lives will enable us to present our fellow brethren complete in Messiah.  We should complete one another not compete with one another.

Notice the repeats that Paul makes to this same assembly about being thankful.  Three times he says this.  In Romans 1:21-22 it says, “21 For even though they knew Elohim, they did not honor Him as Elohim or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22  Professing to be wise, they became fools…” Having a grateful or thankful heart is a Torah command and when coupled with complete honor to our Elohim through the lives that we live, it opens the windows of heaven for us to be transformed by His Spirit. Another repeatable in the verses above was to teach everyone with ALL WISDOM!!!  The Spirit of Wisdom will lead us if we will embrace it!!!  It is a wise saying and we would do well to live by it… “It’s more caught than taught!!”

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
