Counsel

As we grow and walk in wisdom, we realize that every area of our lives need to be open for the Spirit of Counsel to speak into.  Whether it’s receiving counsel through the written Word that we read or through another believer who has walked ahead of us, there will always be a need to keep ourselves in check through the Spirit of Counsel.  Today we will learn what YHVH’s counsel is concerning the Sabbath and what happens to those who take heed and to those who do not take heed to the counsel given.

Jeremiah 17:19-27 says,

19 Thus YHVH said to me, “Go and stand in the public gate, through which the kings of Judah come in and go out, as well as in all the gates of Jerusalem;

20 and say to them, ‘Listen [Hear Counselto the word of YHVH, kings of Judah, and all Judah and all inhabitants of Jerusalem who come in through these gates:

21 Thus says YHVH, “Take heed  [Receive Counselfor yourselves, and do not carry any load on the sabbath day or bring anything in through the gates of Jerusalem.

22 You shall not bring a load out of your houses on the sabbath day nor do any work, but keep the sabbath day holy, as I commanded your forefathers.

23 Yet they did not listen [Did not take Counselor incline their ears[Obey Counselbut stiffened their necks in order not to listen [Not take Counsel or take correction.

24 “But it will come about, if you listen attentively to Me [Receive Counsel],” declares YHVH, “to bring no load in through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but to keep the sabbath day holy by doing no work on it,

25 then there will come in through the gates of this city kings and princes sitting on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their princes, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and this city will be inhabited forever.

26 They will come in from the cities of Judah and from the environs of Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, from the lowland, from the hill country and from the Negev, bringing burnt offerings, sacrifices, grain offerings and incense, and bringing sacrifices of thanksgiving to

     the house of YHVH.

27 But if you do not listen to Me [Receive Counselto keep the sabbath day holy by not carrying a load and coming in through the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its gates and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem and not be quenched.”’”

Keeping the Sabbath has been since creation; in fact it was part of the creation week.  It’s never changed from being on the seventh day which is from sundown on Friday, the 6th day to sundown on Saturday, the 7th day.  The Bible has much to say about keeping the Sabbath as well as the blessings and cursings that come with obedience or disobedience to it.  There are only seven commandments surrounding the Sabbath and yet there is a long history of the children of Israel being judged for not keeping it.  Keeping the Sabbath is a beautiful prophetic portent, a weekly rehearsal, of the millennial reign where we will dwell with Yeshua for 1000 years.  Below we will list the beautiful commandments of the Sabbath.

Seven Commandments for Shabbat

  1. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.  Holy means to set it apart. Exodus 20:8
  2. Cease from your labors.  Exodus 20:10
  3. Don’t cause others to work.  Exodus 20:10
  4. Don’t buy or Sell.  Nehemiah 13:15-22;     Mark 11:15-18 to which Yeshua quotes from Isaiah 56:6-8 which lets you know this issue was about keeping Shabbat.  Israelites would not buy on Shabbat, but Gentiles would, and this is who they were selling to…the nations.
  5. A Holy Convocation…meaning in the Hebrew A public assembly.  Leviticus 23:1-4
  6. Do not kindle a fire.  Exodus 35:3
  7. Give Offerings. Numbers 28:9-10, Jeremiah 17:26

There are 1583 Laws for the Sabbath in the Oral Torah; however our Creator’s ways are not too difficult…they are our very life. Deuteronomy 32-46-47.

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
