13th February 2024: Our Daily deLIGHT~3rd Day-Counsel
Counsel
Once our eyes are open to the beauty and necessity of the Seven Spirits of YHVH, we then begin to see them connected everywhere in the Bible!! One Spirit truly leads to another. The verses today are no exception!! As we review the patterns in Scripture below, may we pray and seek the counsel of the Holy One to open our hearts to recognize and receive wise counsel from those He places in our lives and to reject that which is not of Him and the ability to know the difference.
Proverbs 13:9-10 says,
9 The light of the righteous rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked goes out.
10 Through insolence comes nothing but strife, but wisdom is with those who receive counsel.
Joshua 22:1-9 says,
1 Then Joshua summoned the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh,
2 and said to them, “You have kept all that Moses the servant of YHVH commanded you, and have listened to my voice in all that I commanded you. [Took YHVH’s and Joshua’s counsel as they were in unity.]
3 You have not forsaken your brothers these many days to this day, but have kept the charge of the commandment of YHVH your Elohim.
4 And now YHVH your Elohim has given rest to your brothers, as He spoke to them; therefore turn now and go to your tents, to the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of YHVH gave you beyond the Jordan.
5 Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of YHVH commanded you, to love YHVH your Elohim and walk in all His ways and keep His commandments and hold fast to Him and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” [Joshua is counseling them to remember and obey the commandments of YHVH.]
6 So Joshua blessed them and sent them away, and they went to their tents.
7 Now to the one half-tribe of Manasseh Moses had given a possession in Bashan, but to the other half Joshua gave a possession among their brothers westward beyond the Jordan. So when Joshua sent them away to their tents, he blessed them,
8 and said to them, “Return to your tents with great riches and with very much livestock, with silver, gold, bronze, iron, and with very many clothes; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brothers.” [There is a GREAT reward when we take wise counsel.]
9 The sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh returned home and departed from the sons of Israel at Shiloh which is in the land of Canaan, to go to the land of Gilead, to the land of their possession which they had possessed, according to the command of YHVH through Moses. [These sons followed the counsel of Joshua that was passed down through Moses and they did just as he told them and they were blessed.]
Joshua gave these men very specific counsel in verses 4 and 5. He said:
- Go to your tents in the land of your possession
- Be VERY careful to observe the commandment and the law which Moses commanded you
- Love YHVH
- Walk in His ways
- Keep His commandments
- Hold fast to Him
- Serve Him with all your heart and all your soul
Wisdom is with those who receive counsel. If we keep reading in Joshua 22 we will discover how these men followed through with the counsel of Joshua. They even put up a reminder/witness for themselves, and for those who come behind them, that there would be no question that YHVH is who they follow. The life that we live is to be a witness to the attributes of the one true Elohim and Creator. He has given us His Holy Spirit, which entails His Seven Spirits, to help us fulfill this in our lives. Having wise counsel in our lives truly is a gift to be thankful for!!
