Power

On the third day of this week I shared from Daniel nine.  One of the points was that he confessed the sins of his forefathers, as well as other things, and then he received the Spirit of Counsel from Gabriel.  This pattern of crying out for forgiveness for our people is demonstrated by several in the Scriptures.  Another one of those is Nehemiah.  In chapter one he prays a beautiful prayer of confession that sets them up to be a part of the restoration process after the exile to Babylon.  In Nehemiah 1:10 he is beginning to close his prayer and says, “They are Your servants and Your people whom You redeemed by Your great power and by Your strong hand.” He clearly understands that any deliverance and freedom we walk in is a result of our Creator’s power and strength and not that of ourselves.

As we move along in the book of Nehemiah by chapter nine you see, not just one man confessing the sins of Israel, but now it is the Sons of Israel.  Nehemiah 9:1-2; “1. Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the sons of Israel assembled with fasting, in sackcloth and with dirt upon them. 2. The descendants of Israel separated themselves from all foreigners, and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers.” They acknowledge in 9:32a that it is YHVH who is great and powerful/mighty for they have no strength or power apart from Him “Now therefore, our Elohim, the great, the mighty [root word for Power], and the awesome Elohim, who keeps covenant and lovingkindness,” This is important to always keep in the forefront of our minds because He is worthy of that and it will also help us understand and handle responsibly the Spirit of Power that He gives to us.

In Psalm 71:14-18 it says, “14. But I will always hope and will praise You more and more. 15. My mouth will declare Your righteousness and Your salvation all day long, though I cannot know their full measure. 16. I will enter in the strength of YHVH Elohim;

I will proclaim Your righteousness—Yours alone.”

It is appropriate everyday to give honor and praise to the One who is all POWERFUL and MIGHTY and ABLE to forgive and save His people and in turn fills them with the Spirit of Power and Strength to triumph over our circumstances that can tempt us to be depressed, distressed and despondent.

Be encouraged!!! The Spirit of Power is given to you.  Use it for His glory and be triumphant!!

 Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
