Knowledge

Happy Preparation Day for the weekly Shabbat!!!!  May it be filled with the presence of our King as we prepare to enter into Shabbat and worship of Him!!

Exodus 32 is the incident of the Golden Calf where they made this god to hold a feast to YHVH.  This mixture of trying to worship the true Elohim through a pagan object greatly angered YHVH and now Moses would be faced with a great test!!  Would he intercede for these obstinate people or allow them to be destroyed and a great nation be made from him?  YHVH knew, since He is sovereign over time and eternity, that Moses would not take Him up on this offer, but Moses needed to pass this test in order to grow and move forward.  It proved his heart and strengthened him for future dealings with leading the people through the wilderness.

Moses reminds Elohim of the covenant made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and YHVH relented in what He had planned to do to the children of Israel.  Moses goes down the mountain, witnesses the debauchery and throws down the two tablets and they are shattered.  The golden calf is ground up, scattered over the surface of the water and he made the sons of Israel drink it.  Now we come to Exodus 33 and the journey is about to resume.  Moses inquires of YHVH because there are some things he needs to know before he continues to lead these people.  We have a perfect example in the verses below that the Spirit of Knowledge from YHVH will be given when we inquire of Him for that which we need to know.

Exodus 33:12-17 says,

12 Then Moses said to YHVH, “See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people!’ But You Yourself have not let me know whom You will send with me. Moreover, You have said, ‘I have known you by name, and you have also found favor in My sight.’

13 Now therefore, I pray You, if I have found favor in Your sight, let me know Your ways that I may know You, so that I may find favor in Your sight[Moses understood that favor from our Creator comes through knowing His ways and doing them.] Consider too, that this

    nation is Your people.”

14 And He [YHVH] said, “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.”

15 Then he said to Him, “If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here. [Basically Moses responds to YHVH, “I don’t want to go up from here unless I know Your presence is leading us.”]

16 For how then can it be known that I have found favor in Your sight, I and Your people? Is it not by Your going with us, so that we, I and Your people, may be distinguished from all the other people who are upon the face of the earth?”

17 YHVH said to Moses, “I will also do this thing of which you have spoken; for you have found favor in My sight and I have known you by name.” [These words are said to Moses after he passed the test of remaining in the covenant made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and

not allowing it to be started over with himself.  We, too, are offered this same covenant and can know that we are in the family of Elohim when we receive Yeshua as Messiah.  With this, like our forefathers, we are distinguished from all other peoples on the face of the earth

and now have His favor.  We are to be set apart from all others.  The word set apart isn’t only being separated from all other peoples, but in the Hebraic understanding, we are to be separated and then gathered with like kind and like mind.  Without the gathering

it is not a complete setting apart.]

In Exodus 33:18-23 it goes on to say,

18 Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!”

19 And He said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of YHVH before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.”

20 But He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!”

21 Then YHVH said, “Behold, there is a place by Me, and you shall stand there on the rock; [When we’re in covenant there IS a place by Him and we can stand on the rock, the sure foundation, who is Yeshua.]

22 and it will come about, while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by.

23 Then I will take My hand away and you shall see My back, but My face shall not be seen.”

May the Spirit of Knowledge lead us into the favor of Elohim by learning His ways so that we can remain faithful to the covenant and thereby be led by His presence.

Have a blessed and shalom filled preparation day!!!
