Power

Sometimes there are days in our life that we need an extra measure of strength and power to even get through the day.  The supply of all that we need is given to those who have received Yeshua as the Messiah; but we must tap in and use that which has been given.  The Spirit of Power/Strength is always available to be drawn upon by our faith. No matter what we need today, may our faith be strengthened as we read the verses below and receive them for ourselves.

Luke 6:12-19 says,

 12 It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to Elohim.

13 And when day came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them, whom He also named as apostles:

14 Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; and James and John; and Philip and Bartholomew;

15 and Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot;

16 Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

17 Yeshua came down with them and stood on a level place; and there was a large crowd of His disciples, and a great throng of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon,

18 who had come to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were being cured.

19 And all the people were trying to touch Him, for power was coming from Him and healing them all.

Matthew 9:20-22 says,

20 And a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloakIn the margin of most Bibles you will find for the word fringe a definition and clarification that says, “tassel fringe with a blue cord” called in Hebrew a tzit tzit.  This is a commandment given to all of the children of Israel (sons and daughters) in Numbers 15:37-41.

21 for she was saying to herself, “If I only touch His garment, I will get well.”

22 But Yeshua turning and seeing her said, “Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.” At once the woman was made well.

 What made this woman do that?  In Malachi 4:2a it says,

 “But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings;

This chapter in Malachi has long been understood to be about Yeshua the Messiah.  The Hebrew word used for wings is Strong’s number 3671. כָּנָף ḵânâp̱; from 3670; an edge or extremity; specifically a wing, (of a garment or bed-clothing) border, corner, shirt, skirt, corner (of garment).  This is where the tzit tzit or the fringes are hung on a garment.  Therefore, the understanding is that Yeshua would come with healing in His tzit tzit.  Did this woman know this Messianic prophesy?  I would think yes since she was saying to herself “If I only touch His garment I will get healed.”  We know in Matthew 9:20 she touched the fringe of His garment.  This woman had suffered for twelve years and spent all that she had. She was desperate and at the end of her resources, but not the end of her faith. She believed this was the sun of righteousness and that if she could but touch the fringe/tzit tzit of His garment she would be healed and she was. The “healing in His wings” is still true today for all those who are led to reach out in faith and grab the tzit tzit of our Messiah for healing.

There are several verses about this subject but we’ll look at one more in Matthew 14:34-36 which says,

34  When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret.

35 And when the men of that place recognized Him[Yeshua], they sent word into all that surrounding district and brought to Him all who were sick;

36 and they implored Him that they might just touch the fringe of His cloak; and as many as touched it were cured.

 The Spirit of Power is still at work and ready to flow from the throne to those in need of it.  May we reach out and touch the hem of His garment and receive the healing and strength we need.  Rise and be healed!!

 Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
