Psalm 119 is a unique chapter in the Scriptures.  It is divided up into twenty-two sections; one for every Hebrew letter of the Aleph-Bet.  Each section has eight verses totalling one hundred and seventy-six verses.  In every verse, David mentions the Torah in one way or another.  You will see the words law, ordinances, statutes, word, precepts, commandments, testimonies, etcToday we will look at some of the verses that speak to the Spirit of Understanding.

Psalm 119:73 says; “Your hands made me and fashioned me; give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments.”

Psalm 119:34 says, “Give me understanding, that I may observe Your law and keep it with all my heart.”

Psalm 119:27 says, “Make me understand the way of Your precepts, so I will meditate on Your wonders.”

David reminds Elohim that He is the One who fashioned him and asks over and over for the Spirit of Understanding so that he:

  1. May learn the commandments
  2. Observe His law
  3. Keep it with all of his heart
  4. And he will meditate on His wonders

The Torah, Yah’s teachings and instructions, reveal the character of our Creator, YHVH and His Son Yeshua, who is the Torah made flesh.  As we keep the commandments, understanding comes and so does revelation of who He is and how He thinks.  Since the Torah is eternal, it has ALWAYS been.  In Isaiah 55:9 it says that “His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts than our thoughts”, so when we observe and obey His teachings and instructions and understanding comes concerning them, is it not at this time that our thoughts and our ways are elevated and raised up with Him in heavenly places?  Points to Ponder!!!

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
