Power

All power and strength, whether realized or overlooked, comes from YHVH our Creator.  We may often find ourselves in situations where we need to call out to Him in prayer to give us the strength we need right there in the moment.  He will hear us and in one way or another will give to us the power we need when we need it.  We must have our eyes set and our ears tuned so that we will recognize when it comes and then walk in it.

There are concepts within the Spirit of Power and Strength that spill over from other Biblical concepts and broaden and connect the bigger meaning.  Today we will look at a few of those.

Psalm 10:17-18 (A Psalm of David) says,

17 O YHVH, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their heart, You will incline Your ear
18 To vindicate the orphan and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth will no longer cause terror.

The word strengthen in verse 17 above is the Hebrew word in Strong’s h3559. kûn; a primitive root; properly, to be erect (i.e. stand perpendicular); to set up, establish, fix, prepare, apply, certain(-ty), confirm, direct, faithfulness, fashion, fasten, firm, be fitted, be fixed, frame, be meet, ordain, order, perfect, (make) preparation, prepare (self), provide, make provision, (be, make) ready, right, set (aright, fast, forth), be stable, steadfast, etc…

As we read through the different words and meanings for this Hebrew word kûn we can make the connection that to be given the strength and power of Elohim in any given situation that required His power, would in turn cause us to be erect, established, steadfast, fixed, directed, etc…This Hebrew word is the outcome of one looking to Him for strength and therefore is related to it.  With that in mind let’s read the verses below.

1 Chronicles 29:17-20 says,

17 Since I know, O my Elohim, that You try the heart and delight in uprightness, I, in the integrity of my heart, have willingly offered all these things; so now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here, make their offerings willingly to You.

18  O YHVH, the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, our fathers, preserve this forever in the intentions of the heart of Your people, and direct their heart to You;

19 and give to my son Solomon a perfect heart to keep Your commandmentsYour testimonies and Your statutes, and to do them all, and to build the temple, for which I have made provision.”

20 Then David said to all the assembly, “Now bless YHVH your Elohim.” And all the assembly blessed YHVH, the Elohim of their fathers, and bowed low and did homage to YHVH and to the king.

Psalm 37:23 says,

The steps of a man are established by YHVH, and He [YHVH] delights in his [the person’s] way.

Psalm 51:10

Create in me a clean heart, O Elohim, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

From today’s verses, using this Hebrew word   kûn, we can learn that when we look to YHVH and His Spirit of Power the outcome leads to the fact that:

  1. YHVH hears the desire of the humble and strengthens the hearts and hears the prayers
  2. YHVH will direct our hearts to Him
  3. YHVH will give us a perfect heart to keep His commandments, testimonies, statutes and to DO them ALL
  4. YHVH establishes our steps
  5. YHVH renews a steadfast spirit with us

We can trust that all of this is true in our personal lives, as well as in the community of believers, when we look to Him and His Spirit of Power.

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
