Knowledge

The sixth Spirit listed in Isaiah 11:1-2 is the Spirit of Knowledge.  It’s the Hebrew word Da’at, Strong’s Number 1847.  Its meaning is knowledge, perception, skill…It’s from the root word Yada, Strong’s number 3045.  Yada, which is the root for most of the words for knowledge, carries the idea of intimacy; such as when Adam knew Eve.  He had marital relations with her; the deepest connected relationship. All knowledge from above will produce an intimacy with our Creator and His people. There are several Hebrew words for knowledge.  Some are noun forms while others are verb forms.  I tell you this because as we continue to develop the Spirit of Knowledge it may have a different Hebrew word, but the same or very similar definition.

The first use of this word knowledge/da’at is found in Genesis 2:9; It says, 9 “Out of the ground YHVH Elohim caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Verse 16-17 goes onto say, 16 YHVH Elohim commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”

This particular knowledge of good and evil was for Elohim alone, but when Adam and Eve ate from this tree sin entered the world. They covered themselves with fig leaves [plant life…no blood], but that was not enough.  Blood is the only thing that atones for sin.  How do we know this? The Scripture says that Yeshua was slain from the foundations of the world (Revelation 13:8).  It was predetermined for all time that it would be blood that cleanses us from all unrighteousness.  As a result the Father covered them with coats of skin which meant an animal had to lose its life or another way to say it, shed his blood, in order for this to be provided.  Because of their sin they were removed from the garden.  From that day forward the plan of redemption was put in motion.  What is that plan?  The plan is the true knowledge of Yeshua as our Redeemer.

Proverbs 2:6-8 says, “6 For YHVH gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk with integrity, 8 to guard the paths of justice and protect the way of His saints.”

These verses are power packed for the believer/saints of Yah!! When it says YHVH gives wisdomknowledge and understanding from His mouth, what does that mean? It means ONE thing…His Written Word…the Scriptures.  When we read and study His Word we are having a dialogue with our very Creator, YHVH and our Redeemer, Yeshua who is the Word made flesh. This is the knowledge that makes a difference in our lives as IT will give us the direction we need for every area of our lives. In fact, if we’re careful to be upright the verses above say, “He guards the paths of justice and protects the way of HIS saints.”

There is a very familiar verse that most of us who come from a fundamental Christian background have heard MANY times, but what most of us may not have heard as often are the verses before it.  Let’s look at John 8:30-32; “30 As Yeshua spoke these things, many believed in Him. 31 So He said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My wordyou are truly My disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” What is the Word or Truth that we will KNOW that Yeshua is talking about?  The only Word He had at the time; what is called today as the “Old Testament”. It’s eternal and it’s this KNOWLEDGE of the TRUTH that sets us FREE!! It’s this KNOWLEDGE that the “New Testament” is constantly referring to and showing us how to walk out.  We can only truly be free people if we receive the Spirit of knowledge that comes from the Word…all of it, not just one side of it.

It’s not about gathering FACTS, but developing intimacy through understanding the truth. True KNOWLEDGE will bring us closer to Yah and His people!!

We will continue to develop the Spirit of Knowledge as it is VAST and EXCITING!! J

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
