20th February 2021: Our Daily deLIGHT~7th Day-Fear of YHVH
Fear of YHVH
Shabbat Shalom!! We look forward to gathering with the Treasured Ones today!!
Today we will continue looking at what the rewards, requirements and promises are for those who Fear YHVH.
Proverbs 19:23 says, “The fear of YHVH leads to life, so that one may sleep satisfied, untouched by evil.”
Proverbs 12:21 says, “No harm befalls the righteous, but the wicked are filled with trouble.”
Psalm 121:1-8 says,
1 I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; from where shall my help come?
2 My help comes from YHVH, Who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 YHVH is your keeper; YHVH is your shade on your right hand.
6 The sun will not smite you by day, nor the moon by night. [An interesting side note: Too much sun exposure we can relate too, but what about too much moon exposure? What did this Song of Ascent, which would have been sung going to Jerusalem to the feasts, mean by this
comment that YHVH will also keep the moon from smiting them at night? The IVP Commentary has this to say about it: “Medical diagnostic texts from first-millennium Babylonia and Assyria identify several conditions as a result of the “hand of Sin” (Sin was the moon
god), including one in which the patient grinds his teeth and his hands and feet tremble, and another that has all the symptoms of epilepsy. English words like “moonstruck” and “lunatic” show that such belief persisted into relatively recent times.”
7 YHVH will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul.
8 YHVH will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever.
When we have the proper Fear of YHVH, we also have the faith and trust we need to know that our lives can be entrusted to His complete care. These verses are for us to internalize as believers in Yeshua!! There is a key held within Psalm 121…we must lift up our eyes to the One from whom our help comes from. If we look inward to our own strength and capabilities we will come up short every time. However, if we look to the One who created us, He will hear our cry and answer us in the day of trouble. Unlike the belief in that day that their gods slept and therefore did not hear their prayers, our Elohim never slumbers or sleeps and keeps watch over our souls.
May we have a joyful Shabbat!!
