1st May 2021: Our Daily deLIGHT~7th Day-Fear of YHVH
Fear of YHVH
We are grateful to get to connect through these resources. Let’s remember to pray for one another. We will overcome if we look to the hills from where our help comes from, our help comes from YHVH, the maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121
The seventh Spirit listed in Isaiah 11:1-2 is the Fear of YHVH. It’s the Hebrew word Yirah, Strong’s Number 3374. Its meaning is fear, afraid, respect, reverence and piety.
The Word says in Isaiah 11:3, where we derived the name for this series, “And He [YHVH] will delight in the fear of YHVH, and He will not judge by what His eyes see, nor make a decision by what His ears hear;” When we consider the definition of what the meaning of fear is in context with this verse, we can understand that our Creator DELIGHTS when His people respect and revere Him. When we have the proper Fear of YHVH, we will automatically want to be obedient to what His Word says.
We would do well to commit these truths to our hearts for there is coming a time that we will NEED to know who our stability is and what it is not. Isaiah 33:5-6 says, “5 YHVH is exalted, for He dwells on high; He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness. 6 And He will be the stability of your times, a wealth of salvation, wisdom and knowledge; the fear of YHVH is his treasure.” On cursory read one may read the last phrase “the fear of YHVH is a treasure to YHVH”, but when we read it closely, it’s actually saying that when WE have the fear of YHVH it is a TREASURE to US. When we have the proper fear of YHVH we set ourselves up to walk in all the other Seven Spirits of YHVH. Let’s look at a very familiar set of verses in Proverbs 9:10-11, “10 The fear of YHVH is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. 11 For through wisdom your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life.” So we can see that day 7 connects back to day 1. This is called a Chiasm. You can’t have wisdom without the Fear of YHVH…which is a proper respect and reverence as well as a healthy fear when we sin that will cause us to get back in line.
Acts 9:31 says, “So the congregation throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of YHVH and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase [grow in numbers].”
Just from the few verses we’ve used we can see that when we have the Fear of YHVH we have the following:
- Our Creator Delights in us
- We have the beginning of wisdom
- Then because of wisdom that leads to multiplied days and years added to our lives
- The congregation who goes on in the Fear of YHVH and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit will have
- be built up
- continue to increase…this is our heart’s cry for all of us.
This short list is just the tip of the iceberg of what the Scriptures actually teach concerning the results we will have when we have the proper Fear of YHVH. I hope this gives us a GREAT desire to walk in the Fear/Reverence of YHVH and reap a harvest that we’ve been designed to produce.
May we have a joyful Shabbat!!
