Power

There are days or seasons in our lives where we may be stronger than at other times.  During the times we are strong we are to give to those who are in need of strength.  When we are in a season of weary or weak we can receive strength and encouragement from those who are strong.  Whatever side we are on at the moment, giving or receiving, the Spirit of Power has been established for our good [Tov].  As we read the verses below, may we also take note that each of these were written to a congregation or a community of believers.  Very few Books in all of our Scriptures were written to just one person.  This is another example of the purposes of our Creator that He is building His multi-member body to learn and work together and not separate from one another.

To the Congregation in Rome: Romans 15:1-6 says,

 1       Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves.

2       Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good [Tov], to his edification.

3       For even Messiah did not please Himself; but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on ME.”

4       For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction [counsel], so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

5       Now may the Elohim who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Messiah Yeshua,

6       so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the Elohim and Father of our Master Yeshua Messiah.

To the Congregation in Thessalonica: 1 Thessalonians 5:14-18 says,

14  We urge youbrethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the faintheartedhelp the weak, be patient with everyone. [Half of this list is showing forth the need for the Spirit of Power/Strength to be encouraged toward the fainthearted and weak.]

15  See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people.

16  Rejoice always;

17  pray without ceasing; [By way of reminder: The morning and evening offerings and prayer times were done at 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the Tabernacle, and then eventually the Temple.  These offerings and prayers connected one prayer time to the next prayer time; i.e. the

     9:00 a.m. prayer time carried them through to 3:00 p.m. Then the offerings and prayers made at 3:00 p.m. carried them until the 9:00 a.m. offering and prayer time.  In the Hebrew way of thinking, to which Paul would be coming from, this was known as prayer without

     ceasing. This in no way eliminates spontaneous Spirit-led prayers as David clearly shows in the Psalms.  But keep in mind that even the appointed times of prayer at 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. should be Spirit-led as these are appointed times of Yah.

18  in everything give thanksfor this is Elohim’s will for you in Messiah Yeshua.

To the Congregation in Ephesus: Ephesians 5:15-21 says,

 15   Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,

16    making the most of your time, because the days are evil.

17   So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Master is.

18   And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,

19   speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Master; [Another pattern of Me becoming We.]

20   always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Master Yeshua Messiah to  Elohim, even the Father;

21   and be subject to one another in the  fear of Messiah.

May the Holy Spirit give us the discernment we need in order to know when to give or receive the Spirit of Power/Strength.  As we focus on being an encouragement to others through uplifting words, acts of kindness etc…a strength comes that can give the hope and joy we need to continue on the journey the Father has given us.

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
