Power

Today is a good/tov day to focus and meditate on the reminders from the Word of how every aspect of creation comes from YHVH.  Nothing is made without Him.  While this seems like a given, there are times and circumstances that we may forget to lean into His Spirit of Power and Strength and try to manage our situation within our own strength.  We usually realize this when we’ve had an epic fail and then we will look up and cry out.  However, when we focus on being fully filled with the Seven Spirits of YHVH, we can discipline ourselves to first and always look to our Creator and Father for everything.  This will keep us humble and out of pride!!  As we read today’s verses may we internalize these truths and allow them to transform our natural responses to what arises in our day.

Psalm 89:1-18 A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. The IVP Commentary says about Ethan the Ezrahite. “This name occurs among the sages of the time of Solomon (1 Kings 4:31) and perhaps among the Levitical musicians during the time of David (1 Chronicles 15:17, 19). Nothing else is known about him.”

1   I will sing of the lovingkindness of YHVH forever; to all generations I will make known Your faithfulness with my mouth.

2   For I have said, “Lovingkindness will be built up forever; In the heavens You will establish Your faithfulness.”

3  “I have made a covenant with My chosen; I have sworn to David My servant,

4   I will establish your seed forever And build up your throne to all generations.” Selah.

5   The heavens will praise Your wonders, O YHVH; Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones[Those gathered together]

6   For who in the skies is comparable to YHVH? Who among the sons of the mighty is like YHVH,

7   An Elohim greatly feared [reverencedin the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all those who are around Him?

8   O YHVH Elohim of hosts, who is like You, O mighty YHVH? Your faithfulness also surrounds You.

9   You rule the swelling of the sea; when its waves rise, You still them.

10 You Yourself crushed Rahab like one who is slain; You scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm.

11 The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; the world and all it contains, You have founded them.

12 The north and the south, You have created them; Tabor and Hermon shout for joy at Your name.

13 You have a strong arm; Your hand is mightyYour right hand is exalted[Three ways of magnifying YHVH’s power]

14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throneLovingkindness and truth go before You. [We must be responsible citizens of the kingdom and keep the balance so that we maintain the order He established and desires.]

15 How blessed [Happy] are the people who know the joyful sound! O YHVH, they walk in the light of Your countenance. [This is speaking of those who know the joyful sound of the silver trumpets and shofar. This is one of the sounds mentioned in Numbers 10:10 which says;

“Also in the day of your gladness [joyfuland in your appointed feasts [starting with the weekly Shabbat and through the annual festivals], and on the first days of your months [Rosh Chodesh/New Moon] , you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the

sacrifices of your peace offerings; [notice what this joyful sound accomplishes] and they shall be as a reminder of you before your Elohim. I am YHVH your Elohim.”

16 In Your name they rejoice all the day, and by Your righteousness they are exalted.

17 For You are the glory of their strength, and by Your favor our horn is exalted.

18 For our shield belongs to YHVH [idiom for our strength belongs to or comes from YHVH], and our king to the Holy One of Israel.

May our first and constant response be to look above to our heavenly Father from whom the true Spirit of Power and Strength comes.

Have a blessed and shalom filled day!!
